Jeff Sessions and the Case of the Sexy Blog
Stormie Janzen, an aide to Jeff Sessions, livened up this weekend's political reporting.Apparently Janzen("single, straight and a Scorpio,") , a scheduler in Sessions' DC Senate office, maintained a blog on Myspace in which she dispensed her thoughts on "dating, hanging out with girlfriends, and one of her biggest turn-ons -- men in button-fly jeans".
It isn't clear how long Janzen's blog was actually online, but after recently posting a photo of her "midriff in open jeans, with her hands curved on her lap and the waistband of her underwear showing", pressures were brought to bear on Janzen to shut the blog down. So by Friday, her blog was no more.
The blog did not comment on Congressional business but does appear to have been maintained on official time. If true, this would violate the Senate handbook of conduct which does not permit such private activity during hours of official business.
Surprisingly enough Sessions' staff didn't seem to want to discuss the blog. But for better or worse it is now a thing of the past.

this is no surprise at all. have any of you ever had dealings with his staff? they are the most churlish, immature, pious, serf serving brats I have ever come across in government dealings.
I believe her First Amendment Rights were pressured, and she had to cave in to maintain her job. Personally, I would have quit working for Jeff. In fact, I wouldn't work for him to begin with!
"[M]en in button-fly jeans." That line will follow that poor girl the rest of her life. It may explain why at 34 she is still single as I don't know any men who wear button-fly jeans. But then I too am a Taurus.
This is low. I don't even know that it's right to call MySpace profiles blogs. They are more like personal ads. So the scandal here is that an unmarried 34 year old woman had a singles ad? And that she had a PG-13 photo on it? This is pathetic. MySpace is a members only community, and the person looking at this would have had to search specifically for this person, once logged in. Comparing this to Jessica Cutler is ridiculous.
I find it humorous, as in a smirk, that all these neo cons and their staff play up to their base to get elected and hired, but in real life they are all normal ex- southern college hellraisers.
I believe Texas Monthly did a story a while back on Delay that revealed that his nickname when he was a Texas state legislator was "Hot Tub Tom". But that was before the taking the all cleansing "born again" mantle.
But that's not what this is... this is someone smearing a staffer's name. She's not an elected official. And you can't tell me that readers of this site object to personal use of the internet during work hours.
This was a cheap shot. The Advertiser ran the story Saturday on its front page with a photo. It claims to have received an e-mail from someone about the "blog" and thus found it. Unduly embarassing people has unfortunately become part of the "gotcha" mentality of politics today. Both sides do it. No wonder people are so cynical about government. Is this really news? Questionable. But front page news on a weekend? Give me a break. They owe her an apology. I hope the media, and the Senator, will close the book on this and move on.

I can't stand Sessions, but this is over the line. So she has a personal ad up. Big friggin deal. It's nowhere near the Jessica Culter, Washingtonienne stuff.

This is stupid gossip for people who have nothing better to do but to gossip. Its amazing how people and the news can blow something out of shape! Get a life and cover something important and real! Anyone who would have to look at Jeff Sessions everyday, I would have to feel sorry for, anyway. However, I don't feel sorry for Stormie. She has to hold her head high and realize that this kind of gossip goes on in politics, and I believe she has the right to have a profile online, as well as the right to search for a better individual to work for, preferably one that doesn't have connections with politics. Just a smear campaign, more so for STORMY than for JEFF.
