Tom Parker Looks Like a Candidate

A couple of enterprising individuals tipped me off to the fact that the website "parkerforchiefjustice.com" has recently been reserved.

At first glance this would seem to confirm speculation that Tom Parker intends to take on Chief Justice Drayton Nabers in the June GOP primary. However, occasionally campaigns will buy the potential web addresses of their opponents to frustrate the rival campaigns. So it is possible that the domain name was bought by a Nabers ally or a Parker rival to use for nefarious purposes.

But more than likely this is yet another sign that the Republican Chief Justice primary will see a pitched ideological showdown. Parker has been very critical of Nabers throughout the last several months and all signs are pointing to a Parker candidacy.

When all is said and done, I expect a Nabers/Parker race to be even more nasty and divisive than the Riley/Moore faceoff.

I wonder if Colonel Tom will actually issue an opinion that he's written for the Court before making his announcement. Eleven months and counting!

No way the Colonel releases an opinion when he can simply become the Head Cheese and re-assign all his cases.

Your headline is "tom parker looks like a candidate". That is incorrect, he looks like an idiot. anyone can be a candidate, but not everyone can be an idiot.

guess it's fine for Tommy Boy to break his campaign promise not to run again for office in two years. after all, there's technically not a commandment against lying ...

It's interesting that Nabers' supporters don't even require a race to be underway before turning nasty, as the comments above show. If Nabers doesn't get his people under control -- perhaps by teaching them some of the character virtues from his campaign book -- his candidacy will be harmed rather than helped by their attacks on Parker.

Good point. Apperently there are a bunch of law clerks at the Alabama Supreme Court building who need to take their Ritalin. I say law "clerks" because I can't imagine staff attorneys posting like a bunch of hyper-active teenage boys.

Sorry, Tom, didn't mean to hurt your feelings!

Please quit attacking Tom Parker and just let him run his campaign against Drayton Nabers. The two of them should be allowed to go after eachother and say whatever comes to mind about their respective opponents. If Justice Parker wants to attack Chief Justice Nabers for being an elitist snob who authored the largest tax increase in the history of the State and the Chief Justice wants to attack Justice Parker for being a lazy dullard with no respect for the law, they should be allowed to do so. Besides, Republican donors have the constitutional right to spend millions of dollars on a bloody primary fight. Its only fair.
Signed,
Judge Sue Bell Cobb

Hey Tom, it's Friday - - any opinions that you've written for the Court today? Can we expect any this year?

By the way, another Friday passed and still no court opinion by Tom Parker. Maybe he is following the advice of Thumper's father: "If you can't write something nice about your cases, write nothing at all"
